What is your name and where do you come from?

My name is Alfredo F. Tanig II from Paombong, Bulacan, but everyone calls me Jun Jun!

How did you hear about PO and what made you interested to study it?

I first heard about PO during my 2nd year in college. I was able to learn more about this profession thru my previous classmate/friend who were able to encourage and enhance my interest to enter P&O. I was a PT student during those years, but my interest grew larger and I became more fond in P&O, enough for me to transfer and pursue this course. With enough encouragement and the feel of excitement to be a health professional through skills which I didn’t even know I have.

What qualification did you receive upon graduation?  Is important to you to have such an internationally recognised qualification?

Qualification: Cat 1 – Certified Prosthetist and Orthotist

In my opinion, being recognized internationally as a Cat 1 Prosthetist and Orthotist  can be considered as one of the greatest achievement a CPO could achieve. It does not only certifies the extent or degree of what I studied but also a proof that I am able to enhance my skill and impart it well as a health care professional, not only in the Philippines but in other countries as well.

What do you enjoy most about your job?  Can you share an experience that has been special to you in your work?

There are a lot on my list on what I enjoy about my work, a lot of experiences that are all special that makes it hard to share only one. But in general, what I enjoy and maybe the most special of all is the feeling and life lesson when I am able to surprise myself by being able to come up with an intervention, that even I wouldn’t expect from myself, but was able to provide it in the end. The endless experience that is yet to be felt and seen makes this job fun and special for me.

What are your hopes and dreams for PO in the future - for yourself and for Exceed?

Mainly, I do hope for the life of PO business to thrive more. Not only as a business form but to be fully recognized as an integral part of health care in rehabilitation through out the Philippines. I hope to be able to commercialize Exceed not as a business but to be the standard for PO works for all registered and incoming CPOs in the Philippines.
